AI texting: what it does and what it will not
AI texting answers a lead for you and works through the steps you wrote — inside limits it will not cross. Read these before you turn it on.
On the Team plan. Unlocks when your paid plan starts.
AI texting answers a lead while you are busy with someone else, and hands them back to you warm. What it will not do matters as much as what it does, so both are here.
What it does
- Starts from the lead’s own page, under AI Outreach (SMS), and texts a lead who has consent on file.
- Reads what comes back and keeps the conversation going.
- Works through the stages you wrote, one at a time, and shows which one it is on under AI is working on.
- Sums the reply up on the lead’s page: what they want, the vehicle they mentioned, and signs such as Still shopping or Ready for a call.
What it will not do
- Text anyone without consent on file and your confirmation of it. Both, every time, for every lead.
- Text between 9pm and 9am in the lead’s own time, which it works out from their area code.
- Change the line at the end of every message. Your dealership’s name and “Reply STOP to opt out” are built by the app, never written by the AI.
- Carry on texting a lead who replied STOP.
- Let you type in the conversation. The thread on the lead’s page is there to read; to answer a lead yourself, text or call them from your own phone.
What to know first
- AI texting is part of the Team plan, and it unlocks when your paid plan starts.
- Your store’s admin sets up the dealership’s texting number under Organizations.
- You write your own conversation workflow — the stages the AI works through. It is saved under your account, so everyone on the team writes their own.
- Texting draws on a monthly allowance. Open Usage & Limits from the app’s menu to see what you have used.
Three guides follow, in this order: write your conversation workflow, then consent, STOP and quiet hours, then send the first AI text and steer the conversation.
Related guides
- Write your conversation workflow
Tell the AI what to work toward in a text conversation: one stage at a time, in your words, and test it on yourself before a lead ever sees it.
- Consent, STOP and quiet hours
Record what a lead agreed to, read the texting status on their page, and know the two things that stop a text going out: STOP, and the hours between 9pm and 9am.
- Send the first AI text and steer the conversation
Start an AI text conversation with a lead who agreed to be texted, read what came back, and move the AI on when you know something it does not.
